ROTEC BARIATRIC BEDS: SIMPLY THE BEST FOR RENTAL COMPANIES

Serving the needs and best interests of everyone is a rare occurrence for anybody or anything.

Rotec’s bariatric beds can make that claim.

Simply ask any leading medical rental company that supplies Rotec beds to hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

To begin with, the VersaTech Bariatric bed has been “designed on purpose” with the specific, unique needs of patients and their caregivers in mind, as well as the demanding expectations of leading rental companies. VersaTech beds are not repurposed, retro-fitted med-surg beds, they’re engineered from scratch with safety, reliability, durability, comprehensive functionality, ease-of-use, and of course, Return on Investment [ROI] for rental companies as top priorities.

VersaTech Bariatric beds are sturdy, built to last, and easier to maintain and service which equates to substantially less downtime. A bed with reduced downtime is a significantly better investment for rental companies, requiring less frequent repairs and fewer replacement parts, and incurring lower maintenance fees.

As you know, demands on beds that rent regularly are hefty. They must be pulled from inventory, loaded onto a delivery vehicle, transited to the hospital, unloaded and delivered to the patient room, endure patient use and bed transit within the facility during the hospital stay, reloaded onto the delivery vehicle, return transit to the warehouse, unloaded, sanitized, and returned to inventory. That’s a lot of potential wear and tear.

Rotec beds are up to the task.

And from a bottom-line perspective, these beds deliver a much higher ROI for rental companies than any other hospital bed in the industry. On average, in a rental context, Rotec beds may last twice as long as other beds and, once paid for, become maximally profitable for the rental company.

Let’s look a little closer …

THE LOWDOWN ON HEIGHT

These beds include unique features that enhance the health and safety of the patient and their caregivers. Rotec’s VersaTech Bariatric can be lowered closest to the floor of any bariatric bed in the industry [8’’ or 21cm] and has a load capacity of 1,100 pounds or 500kg.

By contrast, a standard hospital bed can be lowered to within 13”-16” of the floor, not including the height of the mattress. This contrast in height is a difference-maker as Rotec Ultra-Low Beds allow patients with larger thighs to safely and more easily place both feet firmly on the floor and use the remote control to help lift them as they attempt to stand, significantly reducing the likelihood of slips and falls, and resultant injuries.

This industry-leading low height also lessens the chances of injury to a caregiver assisting the patient as they attempt to rise. Fewer accidents mean fewer injuries. Beds can also remain in the lowest position overnight to reduce the likelihood of slips or fall-related injuries incurred during unassisted standing.

VERSADRIVE TECHNOLOGY: EASE OF MOBILITY

The VersaTech Bariatric bed weighs just 580 pounds unoccupied, a full 200-300 pounds less than competitors' beds. Consider the implications of putting a 500-pound patient in that bed and expecting an RN to reasonably and comfortably move and steer a load of nearly 1,100 pounds without risking excessive strain and injury.

The VersaTech Bariatric also offers optional VersaDrive technology, an intuitive, ultra-quiet, DC-powered assistance system that eases the burden of transporting a patient from Point A to Point B within the hospital. VersaDrive senses initial forward or backward movement, meaning the caregiver doesn’t have to propel or stop the bed completely on their own.

Unlike other beds, Rotec beds do not require a joystick or tall handles to propel and steer the bed. All controls are housed in the footboard, making the bed much simpler and easier to work with. Simply push forward and VersaDrive technology senses the motion and assists.

The VersaDrive option allows the VersaTech Bariatric to travel up to five miles [8km] on a single charge though that’s never truly necessary since the bed is simply plugged back in and recharges automatically when the patient is returned to their room. More impressive, adding the VersaDrive option will not increase the 8’’ [or 21cm] minimum height, unlike other drive-assist systems.

TRAINING IS SIMPLE

Rotec beds require no time-consuming training because they’re designed to be highly intuitive, making them easy to understand and master. This means your caregivers will spend less time studying a lengthy manual and more time tending to patients. This is a huge benefit for hospitals at shift change when a new team of caregivers assumes duties for the same patient.

Quickly, they’re able to understand how to operate the bed without wasting precious non-patient time.
